The process development game is a board game designed for a workshop at Aalto University as a part of the CECO - Creative Ecosystems and Collaborative Operators project. In the workshop the participants would be presented with a documented version of their existing business process but the problem was how to make them feel like their can and should change it for the better?

In the game, each process step is placed as an individual card on the process chart, with extra cards and swim-lanes available. Each turn a player from the team draws a card from two alternative decks: challenges and viewpoints. Challenges are problems identified earlier in the workshop that the players need to address by changing the process, while Viewpoints are quotes from interviews that highlight different ways that the process can be viewed.

The game was regarded as a success because no earlier workshop had enabled this level of interaction with the process. In cases of inter-organizational collaboration most organizations aren't even aware of their processes, much less able to plan them in real time.
